Drudkh is a ukrainian band formed in 2002 by Roman Saenko, Thurios and Amorth, later, in 2006, Amorth left the band and Vlad and Krechet joined the band. The name Drudkh means wood in Sanskrit. Many of the their lyrics are poems that were written by ukrainian poets, especially Taras Shevchenko.
It can be said that Drudkh's style of music is atmospheric pagan black metal, with the exception of two albums, Songs of Grief and Solitude that are composed by folk instrumental songs, and Handfull of Stars that can be considered post black metal.
Although Drudkh is not a dsbm band, they are one of the most influent bands in this genre, alongside with burzum. They are not only influent in the depressive scene but also in almost every black metal sub-genre.
Drudkh not only has great musics, but also the artwork is outstanding, it is the best I have seen in black metal. Also their nationalism is remarkable, after listen to Drudkh you will start take more interest in the ukranian culture and black metal scene.
I don't think there is any need to say how great this band is and that I recommend it for everyone, if you never heard Drudkh then you are not a black metal fan.
